Technical Communication. Strategy. Media.
Driven Media is the business of David Brown, specialising in technical communication, transport policy, media production and strategic facilitation.
For more than four decades David has combined expertise in transport planning, public policy and communication to help organisations explain complex issues in ways that are informative, engaging and accessible.
His work spans technical writing, policy development, corporate communications, media production, conference facilitation, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and public presentations.
While Driven Media undertakes professional communication and consulting work, its public motoring and transport content is now presented through the dedicated Cars, Transport & Culture website.

David Brown
David Brown graduated with Honours in Civil Engineering. He says that you wouldn't want him designing the bridge you walk across, because his real passion has always been traffic engineering and transport planning. His interest lies not in how roads and bridges are built, but in how people travel, how transport systems work, and how they can better serve communities.
Early in his career he became known for explaining transport issues to a wider audience, leading to extensive work across television, radio, newspapers, magazines and online media.
Today his career combines technical communication with media production. He has developed government and corporate policy, prepared technical reports, written speeches, produced videos and newsletters, managed social media, presented technical papers and delivered keynote and after-dinner presentations.
David has also owned and managed businesses of varying sizes and was mentored in corporate planning and strategic management. These experiences, combined with his communication skills, have led to work facilitating conferences, community consultation, strategic planning workshops and stakeholder engagement programs.
His ability to combine technical expertise with broad strategic thinking led to an invitation to participate in a national think tank on the future of transport, where he was told he had been invited "not just because of your expertise but because of your ability to think broadly and inspire others to explore together what is plausible, preferred and what needs to be changed in order to get there.
Away from consulting, David's passion is motoring journalism and broadcasting. Every week he road tests a different new vehicle for the long-running OverDrive: Cars, Transport & Culture radio program, podcast and video channel.
